american-furs Store WW2 German Helmet Liner Size 64 Dated 1943 with Matching Chinstrap DESCRIPTION This auction is for exact helmet liner you see in the photos provided and appears to be a late war or even possibly post war Czech reassembled German helmet liner pieced together using existing original parts possibly used by a post war fire or police service. This liner came out of one of those black painted Czech helmets you see that came out of 1950's Eastern Europe and appears to be some type of reassembled liner using original WW2 German helmet parts. The leather is definitely old and well used as you can clearly see the sweat marks on the fore front creating a nice dark rich patina from years of use so this liner definitely was worn for a very long time by someone. The chinstrap leather is odd as it's a bit narrower than the WW2 versions however the buckle definitely is an early war aluminum German WW2 example so again it would appear a leather strap was recycled using some original German chinstrap parts. The size is 64 as indicated on the original WW2 zinc outer band so this liner would easily fit into any size 64 German helmet or size 56/57 liner. I have tried to take as many detailed photos as possible and describe the item to the best of my abilities so please consider this sale final and the liner/chinstrap both to be SOLD AS IS. Up for your consideration is this Model M1881` U.S. Calvary Officers Dress Helmet . The helmet is in what I would consider in excellent condition, being it's 114 years old. As you can see in photos #5 and #10 there are splits around the edge of the helmet and the liner is missing. There is also a yellow lanyard that is attached to the helmet that's approx. 6' long. There is a red stamp, although faded, on the inside of the leather head band that says W.R. Horstmann with a date of 1899 there is more but I can't make it out. My father acquired the helmet in the 50's as he collected U. S. Calvary and American Indian artifacts. I believe the reason the helmets in such good condition, is the fact it as been kept in a box for almost 60 yrs. If you have any questions, please feel free to Email. Up for bid is a neat little grouping of WWII items relating to Ensign James F. Kotsakis who was a United states Navy pilot. Included is Kotsakis's WWII U.S.N. marked leather flight helmet. The helmet is in nice shape exhibiting some light period wear. The avionics headset is also included. Also included is his Mae West life jacket which also shows some wear and is missing most of one of the leather pads on the front as seen. The pilots flight log is also included. He was a late war guy serving aboard the U.S.S. Solomons VF-7. Lastly there were four equipment related documents included. Neat little group from a F6F pilot.
