WW2 M1 Fixed Bale Helmet + Westinghouse Liner, Front Seam Picture(s) and Description:

WW2

This is an early mid-war production World War Two, U.S. GI, M1 helmet & liner....This fixed bale helmet shell is by Mc Cord, It has what looks like a period repaint with a lighter textured color on the outside and about one inch inside the rim. The heat number is "221C". The rim seam, naturally for a fixed bale, is at the front/center, that rim being of stainless steel as are the stationary bales. One stress crack, left rear, the crown has several invisible minor dents. The lightly recoated cork textured paint shows normal wear and handling marks, but is like 97% intact. The chinstrap, solidly sewn in place and not frayed nor marked, they are clearly OD #3 "khaki", the hollow backed cast M1917-A1 type bronze buckle and "J" hooks are intact. The Westinghouse liner is in fairly good condition as shown, has the original paint job, featuring HBT khaki webbing, solid leather sweatband, and pliable leather chinstrap with green steel buckle. The webbing is fastened with steel rivets and gray finished steel "A" washers; showing no rust. The earlyish neck band has its ends turned under rather than the pinked, zig-zeg, cut; this practice was discontinued when the material savings resulting from cutting rather than folding in the ends was discovered. No pull throughs, all are whole and solidly attached. No unit ID markings but there is a US Army spec laundry mark, "H2349" on one of the web chin straps, and an illegible marking on one of the suspension's straps. Clean and green, ready for you to show or display! ! I rate it 95% original, and 95% for Surface Finish & Condition, actually a fairly nice earlyish M1 helmet....Semper-Fi...
